97. (Civil War portrait). Portrait photo of Jonathan Lamplough (1822-1866), South Cambridge, Vermont, in military uniform. Oval studio portrait, 19 x 17cm, in original wood/plaster frame. No date or photographer listed; with handwritten nineteenth-century note about some details of Lamplough genealogy. Shows Lamplough standing, in military coat, cap and sash, holding sword, pistol in belt, U.S. flag at left. The Lamplough family left England prior to the war and settled in Cambridge, Vermont. At least two men in the family served in Vermont regiments during the conflict. Condition: frame chipped and worn; photograph in good condition.
